Fans of minor league baseball will enjoy this book as they could relate to many of the stories. • ALMOST YANKEES, by J. David Herman, tells the forgotten story of the 1981 Columbus Clippers, the AAA minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees. When Major League Baseball went on strike, this ragtag team of up and coming stars and grizzled veterans were thrust into the spotlight. Some of the players continued to mature into major leaguers, while for others, this was their last and maybe only time to shine.
  Herman tells the story of the team and all of its players with such passion and vigor. I particularly enjoyed reading about the manager, Frank Verdi, who could probably have a book written just about him and his antics. Many of Herman's stories of the individual players were well-researched and fun to read about and his tales of George Steinbrenner reflected a feeling of awe, coupled with a hearty dose of eye-rolling at some of his ridiculous choices based on personal animosities. Herman does try to tie in national stories in 1981, I think to try and create a fuller feeling of the time, but those interludes in the book just seem clunky and random and took away from my enjoyment of the book. Herman also splices in his personal story at certain parts and while I appreciate how baseball can tying into one's life deeply, I wish there was some sort of indication of this in the title of the book. Generally, the layout of the book felt very clunky and uneven.
  Some really fun stories from the 1918 Columbus Clippers that I won't soon forget, ALMOST YANKEES does take me back to a pleasantly different time in baseball that is lost in today's world. Any baseball fan is going to come away from this book with a new appreciation for minor leaguers and some great tales of baseball lore.

"With every book that Ms. Orgeron writes my love for her words grows and grows and solidifies why she's an automatic one-click author for me. This book has it all, teen angst, first loves, second chances, heartbreak, steam up the windows sex and a never ending love.

Colton and Allie literally grew up together and the bond they have is unbreakable...or is it? It's clear these two are meant to be together, however, their reluctance in admitting that to each other keeps them apart and actually creates a divide in their relationship for a while. Colt goes to California and leaves Allie behind...and even with the miles that separate them, the draw is still there.

I fell hook line and sinker for their love story. Ms. Orgeron has the ability to make me laugh and cry at the same time. Her one liners are outrageously funny. There's a particular scene when Allie comes to visit Colt after a couple of years apart and his reaction had me snort laughing....

"Alex had boobs? Little ones but boobs. That was the moment it truly hit me that Alex was a girl. A real girl with boobs."

Them getting together is not a slam dunk that's for sure. There are outsiders that aren't, how should I say this, nice. Not nice at all. There's so many other words I could use for some of these people, but I'll just leave it at that! The heat that Allie and Colt have for each other is nearly palpable. But Colt doesn't want to rush things and achingly makes Allie wait. She's not completely on board with this plan either. I loved how he wouldn't give in to her either. The anticipation that's being built between them is achingly hot....

"His finger moved to the elastic at my bikini line, teasing, and I nearly came on contact. The rush of the ride, the thrill of his touch. I was a live wire ready to burst into flames."

Let's just say that both of them are on fire as Colt literally woos Allie and makes her fall that much harder for him. However, we're back to the pesky details of outsiders interfering and when things change dramatically for Allie, Colt doesn't understand and things are said and done that could put their love at risk.

Needless to say I could go on and on about how much I loved this couple, and this story that drew me in with the hilarity, poignancy and beauty of their love. There are laugh out loud moments that sometimes had tears coming to my eyes. If you're looking for a book that will have you laughing out loud and rooting for a couple hard to get out of their own way to find their forever love, then Breakaway is the book you need to read!!!"

• I hate romance novels where the main characters refer to all of the other female characters as whores, sluts, and skanks repeatedly without ever giving it a break. It’s seriously sexist, first of all. Secondly, what’s wrong with women enjoying their sexuality? It’s fine for the guys but not for the girls? I can’t stand when authors make the heroine a little saint and the hero sleeps with everyone in sight which makes him a stud but the women he’s sleeping with sluts. It’s just wrong.
  
  There’s many aspects of this story that bothered me but one big one is that the heroine (Alex) has no female friends. She even goes as far to say that she’s glad she doesn’t. This is psychologically worrisome and emotionally unhealthy. I think any psychologist would agree. Both of the main characters just need intensive therapy. It’s hard to root for them when they’re so immature and their values are so questionable.
  
  This book really pits women against each other and uses that tired blondes vs brunettes thing. Yawn.
  
  I also didn’t like how there was really no reason for the H/h not to be together but it just kept dragging on just to have a story.
  
  There was another point in the story where Alex went on a date and didn’t want to eat so she didn’t look like a “heifer.” I mean, a statement like that is just so irresponsible and damaging on so many levels. Where’s the empowerment here?
  
  The beginning of the book holds promise but then it just descends into this trashy, sexist, tedious hole that I really had trouble getting all the way through.
• LOVE.
  
  This four letter word is a common thread throughout Breakaway. Colton and Alexis have been best friends since the day they were born. Throughout their lives, Colton and Allie have been there for each other but each harbored a secret. A secret love that went beyond the lines of friendship.
  
  Heather Orgeron has given us the perfect friends to lovers story full of love and passion from all angles. Through her storytelling, you are pulled into the families of Colton and Allie and thrust into their angst and young love. I adored each of the characters individually but when they were together, the undeniable connection oozed from the pages.
  
  I found myself crushing on Colton. His love and commitment to Allie never faltered, it was his damn pigheadedness that kept them apart. And Allie, sweet Allie. Her lingering self-doubt that she was enough was almost her undoing. But, with all wonderful love stories, the came together as they were meant to, as their hearts were prepared for, and when the timing was right.
  
  Breakaway has catapulted to one of my top reads of 2017.
• Boy (Colton) and girl (Alexis) love each other after spending their entire lives together but aren’t smart enough to tell each other. Girl is almost engaged to another, that previous boy set her up with, so boy disappears to lick his wounds before finally pulling his head out. All the trappings of a predictable friends to lovers romance.
  
  One of my favorite tropes but this book just didn’t do it for me. I didn’t connect with either of the characters, especially Alexis because she came off as overly immature and unlikeable. Colton would have been more likeable if he’d had just a bit of a backbone. The story is told in the first person from both Alexis and Coltons points of view.
  
  Biggest complaint? There is some serious s—t shaming going on with the heroine referring to herself as a wh—e, others as s—ts, and the whole “cross dresser” scene while it may seem humorous, the way it was presented was pretty messy.
  
  This is my first read by this author and while I wouldn’t pick this one up again, I would pick up her other titles.

• Not my usual reads,but I did enjoy this book, and will look forward to the next one. Would recommend this to friends
• It started off well - a decent plot, a kooky new witch PI but when her new best friend is even more into la la land and the more I read the more annoyed I got. If her new cat Indy had a bigger role it might have felt more balanced but as it was it was just one hare brained remark/scheme after another. A jot of common sense every now and then would have made the world of difference. The characters though are well portrayed (even if annoying).
  She has chucked in her teaching job and today is her first day as a PI. Her first case - a missing husband. Retainer received she is all set to investigate. That is until another case comes in - a case of a murdered witch. Yeah a witch and she's one too. Then a case that she doesn't want - missing mail. Throw in an arrogant coven and coven leader, a dippy new friend, miscast spells, a familiar (sarcastic and unhelpful), a panther, a hex, a hunky coffee shop manager irrational rage. Can she find the husband and the killer? Why does the coven not want her to join? Who hexed her?
• I just finished reading this story as an ARC reviewer and I was quite pleased. I think I've read some Stacey Alabaster stuff before, in the cozy stuff, but I don't think it was in the witchcraft genre. The good part is there should be more volumes coming eventually, the bad part is this just got published, so I'll have a wait to see Book 2! In this series, Ruby Sparrow has just left teaching third-grade school to become a private investigator, a long-time dream. She also quickly learns she is a witch--like it or not, and she doesn't. How she deals with her first days of being a P.I. and a witch makes for some interesting times and reading adventures, and Ruby deals with making new friends and discovering a possible romantic interest as well. Although it has all the components of a top-grade read, cozy witch, cozy P.I., good grammar, good plot and carry-through and moderate scene development, I still gave it only a 4-star rating because of two things 1) character development was rather sketchy except for Ruby, and 2) the writing style didn't flow very well for a writer who has had as many books out as Ms. Alabaster. It's still a 4-star book and well worth reading. I'm going to be looking up the rest of her books to have a go at them, as well! Thank you, Stacey Alabaster for a great read!
• I was curious about this story. Mixing witchcraft with the cozy mystery genre sounded as though it might be fun. For a while, it was, but then the storyline and the characters became more and more ridiculous. It stopped being fun to read and just became tiresome, boring, and insulting to my intelligence as a reader. Maybe some folks enjoy this sort of nonsense, but after reading this story I can say with certainty that I am not a fan of the "witch cozy" genre. The less-than-stellar writing and grammatical errors didn't help. No way will I read more in this series or from this author.
• Stacey Alabaster has several really good cozy series to her credit, and her latest has the potential to be just as good. Centered around former third grade teacher and newly licensed PI Ruby Sparrow who discovers her lifetime of good luck may be attributed to her witchy heritage. The characters are engaging and the potential for more entertaining plot lines are there. Well worth the read. I'm looking forward to the next book. I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book. My review is voluntary and reflects my honest opinion.
• I really liked getting in on the ground floor of this new series by Stacy Alabaster. Ruby, who has given up her teaching job to concentrate on her dream job of being a PI, finds that the reason she has some weird things happening is because... She's a Witch! The story goes on to lay the groundwork of what I think will be another great set by the author. Witchy rules, new clients, and a new friend. We get to see the plot unfold and I really liked the book. Look forward to the next book!
• Crazy witches, spells gone wrong; what else could go wacky for Ruby now that she found out that she was a witch. The story was fun and entertaining. Being able to talk and communicate with animals sounds very enjoyable. Well maybe most animals, cats have their own agenda. You will enjoy the mystery and the antics of the characters. A good solid story that is very pleasurable and entertaining.
• This book is a good start for the new series. It has a good storyline and great characters. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

• I've just received this incredible book a few days ago, and although I still have much to read, it is life changing! Lani's heart and soul shine through in this book as she shares so much of herself. I instantly felt a connection to everything that Lani had to say! Being vegan for the past 6 years is one of the best choices my family has ever made. It has literally transformed our lives, including putting my teenage daughter's Crohn's disease into remission. My compassion for animals keeps me firmly grounded in this choice, as well as my passion for the healthiest, happiest life possible.
  
  In spite of healthy eating and regular exercise, there was something missing. I've known for awhile that I needed to do some "Internal work" to live my best, most joyful life. Meditation practice has always been difficult for me, and I've never known quite how to approach it. Lani's book makes it so accessible, including a 30 day plan to train ourselves in mindfulness...just a little more each day as we grow in this practice. With her expert guidance we can learn to navigate "disquieting states" (anxiety, stress, restlessness, boredom, fear, etc.) and ease them without reaching for unnecessary or unhealthy food as comfort. Mindfulness meditation is an amazing tool, whether you are struggling with constantly trying to resist temptations to overeat, are prone to anxiety, or just want to live your best life.
  
  On page 16 of the book, Lani notes that mindfulness meditation can lead to stress reduction, emotion regulation, and increased well-being, and so many other benefits! To name a few..."increase self awareness, lessen harmful patterns of feeling, thought, and reactivity, enhance self-confidence, patience, and compassion, experience more calm, develop a greater capacity for dealing with adverse situations, reduce anxiety and depression, quiet intrusive thoughts, improve focus, enhance creativity and problem-solving, improve immune function, become more resilient, reduce insomnia, and better manage pain." Each chapter is filled with amazing information, tips, and "Mindful Moments" for introspection. I'm so excited to continue on this path. Whether you are just thinking about veganism or already there, there is an abundance of support for you in The Mindful Vegan to provide you with sustenance for the journey.

• I was attracted to this book first by the beautiful cover. I have transitioned to a plant-based diet this past year and am about 80% there (I will eat dairy at friends' and relatives' houses as they can make vegetarian dishes but vegan is a whole other world it seems) and I have been trying to practice being mindful. I bought this book and love Lani's approach. It is gradual and she gives several recommendations for incorporating mindfulness and meditation in the every day life. I have numerous "A ha" moments as I read this in particular as to why my mind is always wandering to various thoughts and how to bring it back to the present moment. I highly recommend this book to anyone attempting to meditate or practice mindfulness, regardless of whether you are an omnivore, vegetarian, or vegan.

• You will be amazed at how vivid the colors are in this book. Any fan of the Bleach Manga will be dazzled by the colorful artwork. Not much, if anything, from the Bleach Anime Series is in the book.
  
  Many of the pages look familiar. Some are larger versions of the color cover artwork from the series. Some drawings appeared as black and white content. Some I have never seen before. The book has both Chapter 13 covers on side by side pages. Decide for yourself if there is too much gore.
  
  There are only a few words on the pages outside of what may be drawn in the pictures. No page numbers either. An index at the end gives a brief description of the plates. Be warned that much of this book comes from existing work that hardcore fans may be familiar with. But the quality of images and the size of the book are the selling points as much as the content. The book is in the Japanese Right to Left format, just like the manga, but there isn't any warning on the last page to remind you to start with the other end.
  
  The book is just under 12 inches tall and a bit wider than 8 inches. About the same dimensions as Newsweek magazine. It has about 70 pages printed on very high quality glossy paper, similar to a magazine. The painted graphics in the book are beyond description of how lively the colors are. Black is still the color of choice for the Soul Reapers.
  
  There is a Tri-Folded, double page in size, two sided poster that has a group shot of all the Court Guard Lieutenants and a group shot of Ichigo and friends in the "land of the living". The book has a nice dust cover. The title on the jacket says "All Colour But The Black" "The Art of Bleach". The author is Tite Kubo.
  
  This book would make a great gift for anyone you might know who loves Bleach and it isn't even that expensive.
• First off the item shipped very fast and came right on time. Very satisfied with the delivery. Secondly, let's talk about the Art book. Since I'm a fan of Anime, I've been collecting everything Anime. The art book is phenomenal,superb, fantastic, beautiful, artistic, and every adjective you can think of to describe this beautiful piece of art. Since I'm an artist myself, I say this is one of the best Art books I've collected. Every page is filled with colorful prints of Bleach characters. One thing that I've always liked about this series is that are various different characters each with unique abilities, appearances, and personalities. This book displays every single important characters from the series and on top of that it also includes a poster of Bleach characters at the end of the page for Bleach fans. I know I am very late to write a review on this product but you must understand that I wanted this book when I was a young teenager. I was even at Borders bookstore and it was gripped in my hand and pleaded with my dad to buy me it but he refused. I left the store sulking and gloomy but I promised one I'd get it. And guess what here it is man. Since now I'm old enough, I have a job and and can afford something like this with no problem. Sorry to get off track lol I had to include my short little sad story there but this is a must have art book if you loved this series and are a hardcore fan of Bleach.Highly recommended.
• I was expecting, bent corners like the conditions implyed, but it had serve water damage on the cover, and sharpie marks on the back. It might been acceptable if was childerns book, but it was an art book. luckily the cover was removable, so the rest the book could be flatted out. I guess it's what I get for buying used. Please include actual condition details of the products like water damage .
•  This is a soft cover book with a dust jacket. The first page is a multi-fold page that unfolds into a small poster, both sides printed.
  
  Full page coloured illustrations dominate most of the pages. The paper stock is good and the colour reproduction great. You can see the details in inking, and in colouring , the gradations and texture of the water colour. Most of the illustrations included come from the Weekly Jump.
  
  At the end are 13 title page illustrations for the caption, which are in black and white.
  
  All illustrations are annotated. Short captions are also included by the artist Tite Kubo to explain the background story.
  
  Great book for fans of Bleach.

• A huge must have for any Bleach fan! The quality of the pages and the cover are great and I love looking at all the promo art, mag covers, sketches etc
• Brought back my feelings when i first started the series in 2007. I don't have this kinda feeling in releases since last few years. I feel like story lost it's magic after huenco mundo. It still might be good, but felt so much disappointment from the repeatitive story line I don't even read anymore.
  Quality of art book was great. I saw my favourite cover arts in a very good quality.
• Very happy with this purchase. When I saw it in a book store for $20, I didn't have the money for it. Seeing it for about $5 cheaper on (including shipping costs), I can honestly say I'd have been more than happy to pay $25 or even thirty for this. IT IS AMAZING.
  
  The pictures are all awesome, cool, and the concepts, like gangster Ichigo, Orihime, Chad, Rukia and Renji and others are very original. That, a removable poster, and some comments from Tite Kubo himself on the back pages, and I have to say that, as a Bleach fan, it's a must have.

• I don't have to say much to sell you on "Chillpreneur." If you've consumed any of the many free resources out there from Denise Duffield-Thomas, you know what you're in for. She's charming, she's smart, she's funny, and she knows her stuff when it comes to identifying, removing, and then getting out ahead of money blocks entrepreneurs may unknowingly carry around!
  
  What I love about the "Chillpreneur" concept specifically is how it's all about embracing the easy. Leaning into our true gifts. Knowing we're human and we will get stuff wrong. Remaining positive while staring down the impostor syndrome that affects us all. Denise kicks off her book with "Mindset" (which is how I kick off mine as well) because none of the practical work makes a difference if we've not learned how to play the inner game.
  
  I'm all about finding joy along the journey and since Denise came into my life, I've gotten way more chill about that... all while upping my passive income to 48% of my annual revenue. Oh... did I save the best part for last? Denise's money mindset work gets results! Start with the book, bingewatch her vids, get yourself into her courses, DO THE WORK, then come back and share how your bottom line has changed. (I bet you'll be more excited to share how chill you are, though. It's like more money is the side-effect to the way-more-chill life.)
• This is the perfect book for business owners who are tired of the “hustle & grind” mantra that so many business coaches advocate. Getting up in the wee hours of the morning and running on empty all day doesn’t work for everyone, and Denise Duffield-Thomas learned that the hard way. In this, her third book, she shares her “chillpreneur” philosophy that has helped her business and life to thrive, empowering her business to reach the multi 7-figure mark over the past 6 years.
  
  This is the answer you’ve been looking for if trying to follow the old-guard business advice has left you exhausted, burnt out, and possibly even with adrenal fatigue from never letting yourself rest. Denise shares practical advise and wisdom won from being in the trenches — and knowing when it’s time to say, “Enough of this B.S.!” and choose to run your business in a different (and way better) way!
• Some good ideas, yet did not love this new work by Duffield-Thomas. The book is really short with shallow content for the cost, and I write that as a longterm fan of DDT and as a Lucky Bee (am a several year member). Hate the cover (which is the publisher's foolish idea, I believe, not to have Denise on the cover... Instead to feature some model twat... Way to go for espousing face of the brand body/face shaming Hay House ( ). There is nothing unique in the book content, all of this is in vlogs or her recent taped vlogs/live calls on video, etc. Think DDT may be experimenting with howh little can I create in terms if content/value and still generate bug income with the brand. Literally was shocked when the book ended. I was like, is that all there is?
• I admit it I can't get enough of Denise's "tell it like it is" style, and I've read all of her books.
  
  But what I love most about Chillpreneur is how Denise pulls back the curtain on all of the business lessons she's learned over the years, and puts it into a practical guide for women entrepreneurs.
  
  I'm a seasoned business owner myself, and I spent much of the book nodding in agreement (when I wasn't laughing at Denise's jokes!) because so much of this rings true.
  
  Beyond the useful information on everything from pricing to balancing life and business... what I love the most about Denise and her writing is that she's a normal person, who is out there to normalize wealth for other women.
  
  She also shares some of the shortcuts and concepts that have enabled her to be successful on her own terms, and that's extremely beneficial in our society today. We don't need more hustlers on the verge of burnout or cookie cutter entrepreneurs.
  
  The world is going to have a lot more chillpreneurs thanks to this book - less busy, more focused, and happier wealthier women... what's not to love? Grab your copy.
• I really enjoyed the book. I highly recommend this book to those who can relate to being lazy AND ambitious. My only disappointment is that half of the material already felt familiar to me as someone who has been following Denise for a little while now. I wanted more new material. But, if you’re new to the author, then buy it!
• I was already a huge fan of Denise Duffield-Thomas’s before reading this book, just FYI.

• I am a huge fan of Denise. I loved this book because I get caught in the “if I’m not working hard, I can’t earn money”. This book tells me to chill the eff out. The strategies I can implement in my business as a writer. Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
• I read a lot of entrepreneurial and business books and was pleasantly surprised with this book. Perfect tone, not chirpy or annoying, and some fresh suggestions. I made some tweaks to my business (signed up for an automated calendar subscription) and my perspective/mindset that have really made a difference in my day-to-day work experience.

• This book pulls guitar practice kicking and screaming into the 21st century. It's very readable, not dry or dusty and full of amusing anecdotes, more like a fireside chat, than a text book.
  
  The prime concept of the book is that if we use the definition of insanity to be "doing the same thing, in the same way another time, and expecting a different result" most of our guitar practicing is pretty insane, because we do the same things the same way again and again and expect a different result. Steve breaks that cycle by suggesting there's a better way, that can be more successful, and it's rational, logical, and complimentary with modern learning theories and methods.
  
  Bonus is version is less than a cup of coffee, and the proceeds go to a good cause.
• I’ve read through chapter 8 and I’m already seeing results. I used the “no tempo/slow tempo/ fast practice” program to learn the intro to “Fortunate Son” and the intro and bridge to “Bad Moon Rising”. One of my favorite new tricks is the “Play after you practice”. I have my songs loaded into my Amazing Slow Downer app and either loop the section I’m working on or play the whole song as fast as I can or up to speed. By far the best thing to come from the book so far is that I now know what to play during my practice rather then drifting between chord changes, scales, or song pieces. I’ve played violin for almost 20 years but couldn’t take it out of the case and play a song without music to read in front of me. I want to be able to pick up my guitar and play songs for myself and others without having to read it off paper and I think this method will get me there.
• Learning a new instrument usually starts off with excitement and motivation, which then quickly turns to rote routines and boredom. Practice Less, Play More brings back the joy of making music by introducing new ways to learn the guitar that focus on actual playing and musicianship skills.
  
  I am implementing these ideas in my practice sessions, and I now look forward to time with my guitar.
  
  If you are currently stuck running the same scales and random chords over and over again, this book may be the shakeup you need.
• The concept of prime practice and play is so much better than the practice practice practice. Theory scales and modes Fascinate Me and I still study them they are not the main reason I want to play. I just want to play songs. I'm not into being the big lead guy. I play a lot of bluesy songs from Clapton BB Some SRV. But in general this is not what people want to hear even though they enjoy it. They like to hear pop type music. I am implementing in my own Guitar Playing life your action Items which I summarize as Why am I playing what am I playing and when to my playing it. Initial focus will be on playing Brown eyed girl by Van Morrison in honor of my wife. And I've always going to learn how to play Mood for A-day. I also love sleepwalk so II I'm focusing on these songs or my initial Restart.
• At 64 years of age, even I came to believe and understand I needed a better system of learning to help me over the hump of internalizing some of my favorite music. My guitar was silent for 30 years, I decided to re-pursue this long forgotten love of my life, which I abandoned in the late 80's because I could not find teachers who could teach me the blues. I discovered the wonderful world of guitar instruction on Youtube but I inherently knew something was missing. Charlie Wallace sent me an email intro'ing this book to me, on a leap of faith and a gut hunch I went and purchased it. Very glad I did. Steve's, aka VOID, instruction has been extremely helpful. I've read the book 3 times and have been instituting his instruction EXACTLY as he outlines. Making great progress now and not feeling burned out as I did by this last December which caused me to set my guitar down again, which I did not touch for 90 days - and then Steve's book arrived. It is important to read this book carefully, taking note of the nuances, and instituting (with self discipline) his instruction exactly - it will make all of the difference. In fact, the online resources that come with the purchase are a must as well - they're FREE with the book purchase. Thank you Steve, aka VOID, for sharing this remarkable system with the world!
• This book is a Must Read. There are ideas and concepts, that will make your practice and playing sessions become much more satisfying. The book is so good I read it TWICE.
• The book is written in a conversational voice which I really appreciated and focuses on how to plan out and implement your practices to achieve your playing goals. I'm a complete beginner and after using the practice techniques that Steve recommends I was able to play along with Take It Easy by the Eagles on YouTube. It was a watered down version for my skill level, but I managed to do it at speed along with the band. Can't wait to continue my guitar journey using this practice method!
• Totally useless. Did not really know what the book was about untill I read it. It's more motivational than actual techniques.
